Miss Big Bear Scholarship Pageant at the PAC

The Miss Big Bear Pageant is a scholarship-based pageant. Each contestant is a senior attending Big Bear High School or is in the home study program. Each contestant must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.00 throughout her pageant experience. She must be of good moral character, responsible, and should be involved in the community or volunteer work.

The Miss Big Bear Scholarship Pageant began in 1990 as a resurrected and modernized version of the Snow Queen Pageant, which began in the early 1970s. The founders of this program made sure that their new venture would be based on devotion and year round dedication. The Miss Big Bear Scholarship Pageant is a Non-Profit Organization, and is not a beauty pageant. This incorporation instead focuses on personality, intelligence, speaking ability, and the beauty within.

The Competition consists of a Personal Interview the morning of the production of each Miss contestant by the pageant judges, Onstage Presence, Public Speaking, and finally Evening Gown Elegance. At the end of the competition, which goes on from August to September, the contestants who get chosen by the judges to be on the Miss Big Bear Court will receive a scholarship to the college of their choice, along with flowers, an award, a sash, and a tiara!

But once Miss Big Bear and her Court are announced, the job isn’t done for these girls! Make sure to look for our girls at community events throughout the year as these five girls spend the rest of their reign servicing the community through the different programs and events they attend, and as a role model to all the young girls in the Big Bear Valley.

Scare Valley Farms Halloween Haunt!

Bear Valley Farms is bringing back its annual Halloween Haunt, this time under the banner of “Scare Valley Farms.” A highly-produced haunt created in partnership with RWB Party Props, known for such haunts as Queen Mary and Universal Studios, Scare Valley Farms aims to terrify guests from mid-September through just after Halloween.

With the 30-acre Farm converted to a truly frightening experience, guests will travel back to the early 1900s making their way through a haunted ghost town, mine shaft and cemetery, creepy carnival, skin-crawling hillbilly hayride, terrifying slaughterhouse, undead swamp, and more, all before witnessing live executions. Guests purchase tickets according to the time and date they would like to attend.

The Haunt is appropriate only for ages 12 and up (with adult supervision), unless visiting during Twilight Times when there will still be daylight and actors will not actively frighten guests. Peak days and times do sell out.
